NRA Chief Range Safety Officer

Course Outline:  

NRA Chief Range Safety Officers are people who possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to train and supervise NRA Range Safety Officers and to provide the essential information required to develop standard operating procedures.
  • Basic Instructor Training (BIT) - 6 Hours
  • Introduction to NRA Basic Range Safety Officer Course Lesson Plans
  • The Role of the Chief Range Safety Officer and Range Standard Operating Procedures
  • Teaching NRA Basic Range Safety Officer Course Lesson I: Introduction to the NRA Basic RSO Course and Lesson II: The Role of the NRA RSO and Range Standard Operating Procedures
  • Teaching NRA Basic Range Safety Officer Course Lesson III: Range Inspections and Range Rules
  • Teaching NRA Basic Range Safety Officer Course Lesson IV: Range Safety Briefing
  • Teaching NRA Basic Range Safety Officer Course Lesson V: Emergency Procedures
  • Teaching NRA Basic Range Safety Officer Course Lesson VI: Gun Stoppages and Malfunctions
  • Teaching NRA Basic Range Safety Officer Course Lesson VII: RSO Test and Review and Chief RSO Examination Review

Upon successful completion, attendees will receive an official NRA certificate.

Duration:  2 days/14 Hours

Location: Classroom.

Equipment Requirements:

  • All required materials will be provided at the time of delivery.
  • Pens, pencils, highlighters, erasers, loose leaf paper.
  • 1 subject notebook.
  • 3 ring binder.

Pre-requisites:

  • Must be NRA RSO certified
  • Should be an experienced shooter, involved in many aspects of target shooting, training, and range supervision. The NRA encourages active shooters to learn more and become responsible for the safety of fellow shooters through this program.

Additional Pertinent Information:
  • Snacks and hydration are recommended.
