SDFA Tactical Rifle 3

Course Outline:    
  • Introduction, Safety, & Sight in
  • Brief Review of Main Concepts from Tactical Rifle 2
  • Strong and Support Hand only Functionality for Primary and Backup Firearm Systems
  • Strong and Support Hand only malfunction clearance for Primary and Backup Firearm Systems
  • Advanced Shooting Techniques: Reflexive, Bilateral, Various Tactical Situations
  • Tactical Live Fire Movements & Close Quarter Rifle Operations
  • Close Quarter Battle (CQB) Techniques
  • Timed Drills, Stages and Qualifications
Enrichment Module: This 45 min lunch time module is focused on the proper selection of tactical equipment/gear for competitive and/or recreational shooting applications. Participants are given a brief description and demonstration of various potential selections.

Duration: 1 day / 9 hours

Equipment Requirements:
  • Rifle or Carbine with a Sling.
  • Pistol with a strong side holster and belt (Optional, a Pistol is not required). (Definition: a Strong side holster is a holster that wears on your right hip if you are right handed or your left hip if you are left handed.)
  • Minimum: 5 Rifle Magazines and 2 Pistol Magazines or 2 revolver speedloaders
  • Recommended Round Count: 600 rounds of rifle, 100 rounds of pistol. Participants are generally able to shoot a lower round count if they proceed conservatively in most of the drills.
  • Vest or Belt mounted Mag holders for both rifle & pistol.
  • Wrap around eye wear.
  • Ear plugs and/or ear muffs.
  • Hydration system.
  • Footwear suitable for fast movement.
  • Orange/Yellow chamber empty flag.
  • 10 Rounds of dummy ammunition for Rifle and Pistol.
  • Extra Batteries for all optics.
  • Cases for all firearms.
  • Knee, Elbow pads, and hat are recommended.
  • Pen and a 1 subject notebook.
  • Lawn chair and bug spray are highly recommended.
  • Sunscreen, hat or baseball cap and knee/elbow pads are recommended.
  • Snacks, drinks, lunch, etc. are highly recommended.
Pre-requisites:
  • Tactical Rifle 2
  • If the training location is in NY state and you are bringing a pistol, you must have a NY state valid pistol permit or be between the age of 14 and 20 years and accompanied by a parent/guardian that has a valid NY state pistol permit. If the training is outside NY state, you must adhere to all the laws and regulations governing the possession of firearms in the state.
Additional Pertinent Information:
  • Please thoroughly clean, lube and inspect your firearm(s) prior to coming to class.
  • Please sight in your rifle for 50 Yds or 50 Meters prior to arriving to class.
  • Please keep your guns and all ammunition in your vehicle until you are directed to retrieve them. For your safety and the safety of everyone, NO LIVE AMMUNITION will be allowed in the classroom at any time under any circumstances.
  • If you carry a firearm for personal protection, you must leave that in your vehicle during the class.
  • All guns must be cased for transportation to/from the range.
  • Please plan appropriately for the weather. We will be outdoors all day. Course will be held rain or shine.
  • Footwear that fully encloses your feet is required.
